Gettysburg, 5-6 August 2000

The pictures on this page are from the Living History Demonstrations executed on the site of the Battle of Gettysburg on Saturday, 5 August 2000 and Sunday, 6 August 2000. The Confederate detachment of the Corps was positioned next to the Louisiana Monument on Confederate Road and the Union detachment was positioned at Little Roundtop. The 2 groups demonstrated signaling across the battlefield to each other using 6-foot flags. In addition, the Confederate detachment also demonstrated the use of 4-foot flags down (and across) Confederate Road from the Louisiana Monument into Pitzer's Woods. Many thousands of tourists went by each position in their horseless carriages of various sizes and descriptions, with many hundreds getting out of their vehicles to ask questions of the troops stationed at each position. The weather on Saturday was beautiful for the event, signaling on Sunday ended very early due to rainy conditions.
